“River Sail” by Harold Newton. This painting that was created in the late 1980’s by Harold Newton is a clear example of his skill level, mostly brush work with hints of pallet knife use.

He was a master artist. As Highwaymen artist Livingston Roberts once said, “Harold Newton painted big stuff every day”. A great complement from another Highwaymen artist. His use of color and ability shine in this image.

For 40 years Harold Newton painted Florida’s landscape. Many of his works which include this painting
will be on view at the Backus Museum starting in January, 2022.
