Highwaymen Art By Livingston Roberts
Highwaymen Art by Livingston Roberts
The painting “Calm Backwater” by Livingston Roberts is an early example of his ability and style. The early days of painting then hitting the streets to make the sale. Self employed and punching a time clock for no one. These paintings symbolize the Highwaymen Artists American dream.
Livingston Roberts was a very early member in the group and was close with Alfred Hair and Roy McLendon. He once said “he didn’t want AE Backus to critique his Art, he just wanted his conversation”. Between 1999 and 2004 I would frequently visit him and listen to his stories, he always had something interesting to say.
