Highwaymen Art by RA McLendon
Highwaymen Art by R.A. McLendon
“Peach Morning” by Highwaymen artist R.A. McLendon. This is an early one, late 1950’s of a Florida Backwater scene that was painted in Florida but ended up in Kentucky. Painted using only the palette knife which was common then. Early paintings by Harold Newton and R.A. McLendon were all painted this way, palette knife only.
Harold Newton was the first Highwaymen artist to start painting Florida landscapes. The second was R.A. McLendon. Who was the third member in this group of artists? Hezekiah Baker makes that position. These three members in the group should be recognized for their early part in this story.
